A Journey Through Early California Starting with the earliest habitation of Native Americans in the Western Hemisphere, some 20,000 years ago, to the Gold Rush of 1849, much of the story of California was chronicled in historical paintings. In this exhibit, the period between 1890 to 1930, is illustrated by the landscape paintings of California Impressionists showing the region before the growth and development that we see today.
